The individual will analyze business requirements, produce design specifications, and develop solutions. The work will involve application enhancements, new application modules, and production problem resolution. The individual must possess good problem solving and analytical skills, communicate and work well with users and team members, and manage multiple complex tasks. Position Summary:

 

The Senior Developer/Analyst develops complex technical solutions to meet the needs of the business. He/she works with the user and MIS team to help understand, prioritize, and plan application support efforts. He/she designs, develops, and implements new applications and enhancements to existing applications. He/she also provides some technical and analytical direction to other members of the development team. Finally, he/she provides expertise to resolve problems with existing technology as well as analyze and introduce new technology. He/she must demonstrate a strong customer focus.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test and implement new applications, enhancements to existing applications, and resolution of application problems. Provide necessary support to internal customers for custom applications.

  • Analyze business requirements. Perform and document corresponding application analysis, design and programming specifications.

  • Provide technical and analytical direction and support to other members of the development team.

  • Estimate and plan development efforts as requested. Provide input on work prioritization.

  • Design database models and structures to support application requirements. Tune applications and databases to resolve performance problems.

  • Develop, document and execute methods and procedures for application development.

  • Keep abreast of technological developments related to application development. Analyze and implement new technology and upgrades. Other duties as assigned

Desirable Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 1-3 years experience in Property and Casualty Insurance application development.

  • 5-7 years experience in application development, with significant experience in a Client/Server development.

Product Development Analyst

 

This position assists with designing and maintaining commercial insurance products including rules, forms, underwriting guidelines, internal training, filing submissions to state insurance regulators; data management and analysis. This position will also review policies for compliance with company standards and state regulations. At least 5 years property casualty insurance experience in commercial underwriting. Strong insurance knowledge of P&C lines, specifically GL, Auto and Property. Insurance designations desirable. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Position Summary:

 

This position reports to the Product Development Manager or their designee. The analyst supports the Product Development Unit with policy compliance administration, maintenance of the forms portfolio, filing of forms and rates; data management and analysis and development of new programs. Assist with reviews policies for conformance with prescribed guidelines. Assist with researching regulations, drafting rules, reviewing new program forms and developing internal guidelines. Monitors industry filings for changes in rules, forms and regulations. Supports the Manager with other duties tasks and projects as required.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to development of independently managed lines of business, to include statutory/regulatory analysis, form selection, endorsement development, rate level analysis, loss, premium and exposure analysis; underwriting guidelines and educational bulletins.

  • Assists in reviewing new business and renewal policies for compliance with fronting carrier, reinsurer, company and state guidelines.

  • Participates in the design and development of independent HAI Group product enhancements to include the coordination of forms, support design for underwriting systems, creation of processing procedures, initiation of product rules and establishment of statistical/financial reporting codes. Assists with rate and forms filings.

  • Coordinates, contributes, maintains and edits articles, procedures and manuals.

  • Tracks changes to automobile financial responsibility laws and related coverage and forms issues including updating and maintaining Auto Supplemental applications that conform with state regulations.

  • Maintains a current and accurate listing of primary and mandatory forms for the major lines supported by the company, by monitoring industry form and rule changes, state surcharges and fees.

  • Analyze and interpret industry forms for applicability to HAI Group’s customer needs.

  • Assists in development and presentation of training programs for new initiatives.

  • Establishes and maintains cancellation, non-renewal, and countersignature requirements by state.

  • Performs other related and non-related activities as directed by supervisor.

Desirable Training and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • 4 year college degree

  • Industry designations are desirable.

  • Five years underwriting and/or product development experience

  • Detailed knowledge of insurance concepts and practices required

  • Detailed knowledge of Commercial Insurance form structure and content required

  • Experience with internet research required

  • Rate and form filing experience desired
