The Resident Scholarship Program was developed to
create educational opportunities for residents of member housing
authorities.
The 2008 Scholarship Program has closed at this
time. The deadline was April 30th. Please check back in
February/March 2009 for information on our next scholarship program.
Following are general guidelines for our scholarship program for
your future consideration.

Must be a public housing resident or
Section 8 participant for at least 6 months.

Your public housing authority must be a
participant in either the HARRG or HAPI program through Housing
Authority Insurance Group.

Be a graduating high school senior or already
have a high school diploma/GED Note: This includes adults
that want to go back to college.

Be currently attending or plan to attend a
college, university, or technical school.

You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or
greater.
Application Instructions

Complete a Housing Authority Insurance Group
application form. All applications must be legible.

Submit your most recent high school
transcript, college transcript, and/or GED.

Submit two letters of recommendation (one
from a housing authority employee on its letterhead for
verification and one from a teacher/administrator).

Submit a typed essay (no more than 300
words).
Essay Topic to be given when established for 2009
scholarships.
Note: Transcripts, essay, and recommendation
letters must be attached to the application (and not sent
separately) to be considered.
Submission Instructions

Completed applications (B/W or color) must be
postmarked by the deadline of To Be Determined for 2009.

Mail the application to the address listed on
the application.

Alterations cannot be made to the original
application.
Note: No late, incomplete, or faxed applications
will be considered. All application information must be sent in
together. Please use checklist on page 2 of application.
Recipient Selection
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
All applicants will be notified of their status by
mail.
Scholarship Awards
Awards are $2,500 each and are issued before the fall
semester of the current year. A total of 12 scholarships will
be awarded.
Payment of Awards
Payments are made by HAI Group directly to the
college, university, or technical school. Recipient must notify HAI
Group before the beginning of the fall semester of which school
he/she will attend. The check will be sent out after verification of
enrollment.
