To qualify for Housing Authority Insurance (HAI) Group membership and access to our public housing insurance program, an organization must be a Local Housing Authority including Public Housing Authority, Redevelopment Authority or Housing Commission. A special insurance program has been created for affordable and nonprofit housing through low income housing tax credit (LIHTC) partnerships.
HAI Group offers programs and specialized insurance products designed specifically to meet the needs of these sectors.
Members of HAI Group can participate in the governance of their insurance company through paid Board of Directors or volunteer committees.
PHAs are required to sign a membership agreement (HARRG and/or HAPI) if purchasing insurance coverage. You are not locked in to any program, and you may cancel at any time. There is no membership fee to receive a quotation.
HAI Group insurance programs are non-assessable, and provide full insurance coverage to your agency. You do not “pool” or share risk with other members of the group. Members are individually rated – one rate does not fit all. Underwriting is performed on each account so exceptional risk control and loss experience can be rewarded. Policyholders have direct access to their underwriter for questions about coverage or pricing.

HAI Group is a direct writer of insurance programs specifically designed for public housing authorities. HUD has waived HAI Group from bid requirements.
