2007 HARRI Award & Best Practices Award Winners

HARRI Winner:  Kinston Housing Authority, NC: “RED (Resident Education Daily) Light Program”

In an effort to prevent house fires and other accidents while cooking, cleaning, and conducting activities of daily living, we are educating our residents everyday. Kinston Housing Authority has installed televisions with DVD/VCRs in the lobby of our four management offices. By having these communication tools inside the lobbies, residents will receive helpful tips for safety inside and outside their homes. Our residents visit the offices regularly to pay rent, report problems, report changes, and renew their leases. This information will be provided daily.

Best Practices Winner:  Milwaukee Housing Authority, WI: “Sprinkler Stop Valve: Minimizing the Potential for Water Losses”
