President and Chief Executive Officer
Ed Malaspina, President and Chief Executive Officer, joined HAI Group in 1991 and has served in a variety of leadership positions. His company oversight has included business development, corporate marketing, enterprise strategy, as well as industry initiatives and market intelligence. Ed has more than 25 years of experience working in the public and affordable housing industry. During his tenure, he has worked closely with housing authorities and commercial habitational clients on a variety of endeavors including insurance, accreditation, and financial products. He is a certified public housing manager (PHM), licensed insurance producer, certified insurance consultant (CIC), excess and surplus lines broker, a licensed claims adjuster, real estate broker, and a Governance Fellow with the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). Ed holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Hartford and a master's degree in business administration from Albertus Magnus College.
Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
Sarah Rodriguez joined HAI Group in 2002. Promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2014 and elected Treasurer in 2017, she is responsible for all financial activities, capital management, information technology, security and operations for the Company. Sarah has spent her tenure at HAI Group leading financial reporting and annual planning to maintain financial accountability across the entire organization.
Sarah brings more than 20 years of experience spent in finance and accounting within the insurance industry. Prior to joining HAI Group, Sarah served as financial analyst, reinsurance accountant, and staff accountant for several organizations, including AMS Services, Inc. and Discover-Re Managers.
Sarah is a graduate of Bryant University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership, with a focus on strategic leadership, from Quinnipiac University.
Chief Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary
Amy Galvin, Chief Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary, joined HAI Group in 2002. Amy’s previous roles within the Company include Assistant Treasurer, Director of Finance, and Director of Enterprise Risk Management.
Before joining HAI Group, Amy graduated from the CIGNA Financial Development Program in which she held roles in controller operations and was the Chief of Staff to the CIGNA Healthcare Chief Financial Officer. Amy was also a financial analyst at OTIS Elevator World Headquarters and started her career as an auditor with KPMG, LLP in Hartford, CT.
Elected as the Corporate Secretary in 2013, she serves HAI Group’s Board of Directors and Committee Members, as well as handles corporate governance matters. Amy is also the Assistant Corporate Secretary for the Affordable Housing Accreditation Board.
Amy holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Connecticut.
Chief of Staff and Assistant Corporate Secretary
Courtney Rice is the Chief of Staff and Assistant Corporate Secretary at HAI Group. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the entirety of HAI Group’s Enterprise Support – including administrative services, facilities, public relations, and safety and physical security. In addition, she is charged with realizing the Board of Directors’ Mission and Vision, while directing the Enterprise to achieve its strategic goals and operational results.
Responsible for the strategic development, planning, and execution of all public relations endeavors; Courtney leads the award winning ReThink: Why Housing Matters initiative, which is a national public awareness campaign aimed to shift perceptions about public housing.
Elected as the Assistant Corporate Secretary in 2015, she serves HAI Group’s Board of Directors and Committee Members, as well as handles corporate governance matters.
Prior to joining HAI Group in 2012, Courtney spent more than 10 years in the communications field; specializing in corporate branding, employee communications, public relations, event management, and social media. She worked with renowned brands such as Starbucks Coffee Company, Pulte Homes, L'Oréal Paris, NBCUniversal, Jiffy Lube International, and Yoplait Yogurt.
Courtney graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations.
Chief Underwriting Officer
Jerry Williams joined HAI Group in 2014 as Senior Vice President of Insurance. He is responsible for spearheading all insurance activities including underwriting, policy management, product development, claims, risk control, sales and account management.
Jerry brings more than 26 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry to HAI Group. Prior to joining HAI Group, Jerry worked at Bituminous Insurance Company (An Old Republic Company), Commercial Union, FCCI Insurance Group, Harleysville Insurance, C.N.A, and The Tower Group serving in various underwriting, business development and executive leadership roles.
Jerry has his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and Associate in Management (AIM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose University.
Director of Internal Audit and Enterprise Compliance
Troy LePage, Director of Internal Audit and Enterprise Compliance, joined HAI Group in 2017. He is responsible for the development and management of the Company’s Internal Audit and Enterprise Compliance functions. In this role, Troy works to ensure the risk management framework, enterprise compliance function, and internal controls of HAI Group are optimized to best serve the interests of the Company's stakeholders. Prior to joining HAI Group, Troy was a Senior Manager at Deloitte LLP working with a wide variety of clients within the insurance industry. Troy holds a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s of Science in Accounting, both from the University of Connecticut. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Connecticut, as well as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA).
Chief Marketing Officer
Sherry Sullivan brings more than 30 years of experience in housing and insurance to HAI Group. She is the Chief Marketing Officer responsible for leading corporate strategy, business growth, and all marketing and communications initiatives.
Joining HAI Group in 1987, Sherry has actively participated in the development of many new HAI Group companies and products during her tenure. She leads several business units including Marketing and Communications, Research, Capital, Learning, Account Services and Sales.
A graduate of Quinnipiac University, Sherry also holds numerous industry certifications in both housing and insurance including certified insurance consultant, licensed insurance producer, certified Public Housing Manager (PHM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS), Associate in Insurance Services (AIS), and Associate in Commercial Underwriting (ACU).
