HAI Group’s Holiday Giving

It is tradition for HAI Group’s Community and Resident Services Team to make the most of their fundraising efforts, and give back to the local Cheshire, Connecticut, as well as our housing community during the holiday season. The 2016 holiday season was no exception.

The members of the Resident Services Team brainstormed and planned for months to execute some truly wonderful ways to give back. Some are new ideas, and some are considered HAI Group traditions. The fundraising began in early November when the Team ran the first ever HAI Group Holiday Vendor Fair. All vendors paid a fee to be involved and donated as well.

Several drives were also held including:

Coat Drive – A coat drive was held to collect gently used and new coats for Project Homeless Connect which is a national initiative where communities come together to provide resources to those facing homelessness in the community.

Sock and Shoe Drive – A sock and shoe drive was held for the Bristol Community Organization. This is a private non-profit Community Action Agency serving the young, elderly, persons with disabilities, low-income individuals and families in the Connecticut towns of Bristol, Burlington, Farmington, Plainville, Plymouth and New Britain.

Donations for Deployed Troops – A drive for deployed troops was held where toiletries, snacks and thank you cards were collected for the Third LAAD USMC platoon currently serving is Bahrain.

Backpacks for the Homeless – A backpacks for the homeless drive was held for the Bristol Community Organization. Thirty adult backpacks and five youth backpacks were filled with donated toiletries, clothing, hats and gloves for the winter season.

Animal Shelter Drive – An animal shelter drive was held where a variety of dog and cat food and supplies were collected for the Brass City Rescue Alliance in Middlebury, Connecticut.

The committee wanted to also give back to a local Member and partnered with the Hartford Housing Authority to make some wishes come true this holiday season. Employees throughout HAI Group went shopping to purchase gifts for over 25 children and delivered them in time for the holidays. A special thank you to Emily Diaz, Derrek Sheldon and Nancy Copeland from the Hartford Housing Authority for working with HAI Group on this amazing event!
