Meet Betty Dye, HAI Group's 2021 Risk Champion of the Year

HAI Group’s board and committee members convene annually to determine the winners of our Risk Management Awards, developed to recognize public housing agencies that go above and beyond to address various risks to residents and staff.

There are five award categories, the most prestigious of which is Risk Champion of the Year. The winner of this award is a housing agency employee nominated by a peer or HAI Group employee for demonstrating outstanding commitment to risk management.

2021 HAI Group Risk Champion of the Year: Betty Dye, Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority (Ohio)

Our 2021 Risk Champion of the Year, Betty Dye, stands out for the robust risk management culture she promotes at Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, where she serves as vice president of human resources.

“Betty goes above and beyond when it comes to risk management at Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority,” said Elizabeth Owens, HAI Group’s director of risk control and consulting. “Aside from human resources leadership and guidance, she oversees several important initiatives, including professional development training programs aimed at creating a safer, healthier, and happier workplace.”

Dye works with the organization’s executive leadership team to define and support its risk management mission and goals. She processes employee complaints, investigates work-related issues, ensures compliance with various regulatory bodies, and oversees hiring policies that meet the organization’s diversity goals. Dye also administers the organization’s health and wellness program, among many other job duties.

“Betty truly epitomizes what it means to be the HAI Group Risk Champion of the Year,” Owens said. “We thank Betty for her dedication to a safe and positive workplace.”
