The Demand for Housing Assistance explores the dynamics of waiting list for housing assistance and uses an advanced statistical model to predict how many households would be waiting if many waiting lists were not closed to new applicants due to overwhelming demand. It finds that in 2012, nearly 9.5M households would be waiting for a voucher and 2M for a public housing unit if waiting lists were not closed.
