Affordable Housing

At HAI Group, we care about preserving affordable housing – that’s why we sponsor the National Housing Preservation Database (NHPD). Since 2011, the NHPD has been a resource for over 6,000 users working to preserve affordable housing, from housing developers and government officials to researchers and consultants.

In April 2018, the NHPD performed its second refresh of US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) project-based rental assistance data of 2018 to maintain the most up-to-date database that allows users to search for affordable housing properties across the nation by location, funding stream, or subsidy end date. Download our updated data to keep your local preservation inventory current.

The NHPD continues to be featured in advanced research projects and news reports. Notably, in 2018, the current issue of HUD’s Cityscape includes “Opting In, Opting Out: A Decade Later,” using the NHPD to explore the use of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit and HUD refinancing to preserve affordability in developments with expiring Section 8 Project-based rental assistance.
